RESIDENT LIFE AND WELL-BEING AT KINGS COUNTY
The well-being of our residents is just as important to us as their clinical and professional development. We value providing residents with leisure activities to promote relaxation and create personal bonds with each other. Some of the fun activities each year include welcome parties for new residents, painting, creating tie-dye T-shirts, cultural potluck luncheons to share food and customs from one’s country of origin, pumpkin decorating contests, resident Halloween costume parades, winter holiday parties, holiday gift wrapping and giving parties for patients, quiz show competitions, and resident talent shows. All of these activities are coordinated by one of our faculty who is the liaison for Pediatric Resident and Faculty Wellness.
In addition, Kings County provides many services to address the well-being of all employees through the Workforce Wellness Department. In addition to wellness rooms located across our campus where one can relax in a quiet, undisturbed setting, the department offers services to employees who may be facing challenges by helping them to connect with internal and external resources to provide short-term counseling, education, information, and individualized referrals for a wide range of personal and social problems.
