Five Reasons Why You Should Use Virtual ExpressCare

If you’re feeling sick or suffering with mental health concerns, and need to access care from the comfort of your home, NYC Health + Hospitals Virtual ExpressCare can help.

Our Virtual ExpressCare telehealth service is a fast and easy way for patients to see a provider for common physical and mental health issues that are not emergencies.

To talk to a doctor now by video, go to expresscare.nyc or call 631-EXP-Care (631-397-2273). Care is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, in over 200 languages, regardless of immigration status or ability to pay. (To learn more about coverage and payment details, click here).

Here Are the Top 5 Reasons You Should Use Virtual ExpressCare

1. For Cold and Flu Symptoms

If you’re suffering from cold and flu symptoms – including fever or muscle aches, sore throats and sinus infections – Virtual ExpressCare can help.

Choose to see a provider over video, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with minimum wait times. The provider will perform an assessment, give advice, and prescribe any medications you may need to feel better.

2. For COVID-19 Symptoms

If you have COVID-19 symptoms, get tested for COVID-19 right away so you can start treatment if eligible. Do not go to an emergency room only to get tested. To find a COVID-19 testing site, visit nyc.gov/covidtest. You can also use at-home COVID-19 tests.

If you tested positive for COVID-19, use Virtual ExpressCare to speak to a provider by phone or video and they will assess you and guide you on what to do next to get healthy. Your provider can prescribe oral antiviral pills if you are eligible or help you find other treatment options.

3. For Depression, Stress or other Mental Health Conditions

If you’re feeling depressed, stressed, or suffering anxiety, you do not have to suffer alone. Virtual ExpressCare provides comprehensive and convenient support to those dealing with:

  • Substance Use Disorders
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Stress
  • Burnout
  • Withdrawal and
  • Other emotional distress

4. For Abortion Services

If you have taken a pregnancy test and you are positive and are considering your options, Virtual ExpressCare can help. While our urgent care services are available 24/7, our Virtual ExpressCare abortion services are available 7 days a week from 9am to 9pm. Speak with a provider for screening, counseling and assessment to decide what’s best for you.

Telehealth medication abortion services are available to eligible, consenting patients who are 15 years of age or older through Virtual ExpressCare. Parental consent is not required. If in-person care is more appropriate, the patient will be referred.

5. For Sexual and Reproductive Health Services

Sexual health has never been easier. Now, you can talk to a doctor from the comfort and privacy of your home. Use Virtual ExpressCare if you have any of these symptoms or questions:

  • If you have: itching, pain, discharge or burning.
  • You’ve had sex without condoms in the last three months, but haven’t been tested for Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) in that time.
  • You regularly have sex without condoms and you do not want to have a baby or get an infection.
  • You think you were exposed to HIV or other STDs.
  • Your partner told you they have an STD and you need treatment.
  • You have a diagnosed STD and you want your partner to get treatment.
  • You’re interested in PrEP or PEP (HIV prevention medication).

For cases that cannot be managed virtually you will be connected to in-person services within our hospital system to ensure you get the care you need.

Care doesn’t end with your visit. ExpressCare staff will work with your provider for any follow-up care. If you do not have a provider, we will help you find one who is right for you.

We value your time and your health, so use Virtual ExpressCare and get care anywhere.
