PoliticsNY and amNY Metro Honor NYC Health + Hospitals and MetroPlusHealth Leaders Through 2024 “AAPI Power Players” Recognition List

The list recognizes dynamic leaders from the Asian American and Pacific Islander community shaping the future of New York City

NYC Health + Hospitals today announced that four leaders from across the health system and MetroPlusHealth have been named to PoliticsNY and amNY Metro’s 2024 “AAPI Power Players” list. Launched in honor of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, the recognition list honors leaders from a range of industries and fields making a bold impact across New York. This year, the list recognizes Lila Benayoun, Chief Operating Officer for MetroPlusHealth; Dr. Zeshan Chaudhry, Director of Neuroradiology for NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County; Dr. Khoi Luong, Senior Vice President of Post-Acute Care for NYC Health + Hospitals; and Dr. Eric Wei, Senior Vice President and Chief Quality Officer for NYC Health + Hospitals. The 2024 AAPI Power Players recognition list is part of a monthly series by PoliticsNY and amNY Metro on New York’s Power Players, including business executives, educators, government affairs experts, and nonprofit directors.

Lila Benayoun was appointed Chief Operating Officer (COO) of MetroPlusHealth in September 2022, where she leads transformation initiatives designed to foster growth, innovation, and operational excellence. As COO, Lila is also responsible for plan operations, member retention, provider relations, the project management office, organizational process improvement, and the launch of OneX, MetroPlusHealth’s new management service organization. Lila holds more than 20 years of industry leadership experience in leading new managed care markets, new product launches, advancing operational excellence, and outstanding service experiences. Lila holds a bachelor’s degree in health information management from Temple University and has completed post-graduate studies at Columbia University, focusing on strategic growth.

Dr. Zeshan Chaudhry is the Director of Neuroradiology at NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County. He works as an attending physician at multiple NYC hospitals, providing care to underserved communities in Brooklyn and the Bronx. He completed his residency at SUNY Downstate Medical Center, and a fellowship at Stanford University. His academic achievements include numerous publications, chapters, and abstracts, and multiple teaching awards, underscoring his commitment to advancing neuroimaging and the training of young physicians in the field.

Dr. Khoi Luong has over seven years of experience in post-acute care, long term care and has served in various leadership roles with NYC Health + Hospitals since 2016, most recently as Senior Vice President of Post-Acute Care for the system. Throughout his career with NYC Health + Hospitals, Dr. Luong increased clinical capabilities across six sites, and five post-acute and long-term care facilities have been ranked as some of the best in the nation.

Dr. Eric Wei serves as Senior Vice President and Chief Quality Officer for NYC Health + Hospitals and is the Fellowship Director for the NYC Health + Hospitals Clinical Leadership Fellowship. Dr. Wei is a practicing emergency medicine physician who has rotated through all eleven Emergency Departments in the system. He serves on the board of MetroPlusHealth and as faculty for the Greater New York Hospital Association/United Hospital Fund Clinical Quality Fellowship Program.
