Oluwa’seun’ (Seun) Ephraim Ajibade currently works in the Behavioral Health inpatient services at Coney Island Hospital (CIH) as an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADN) Nurse Educator, dedicated to the behavioral health department. He is responsible for developing curriculum and training and for staff development, with the primary goal of meeting the educational needs of all employees within the CIH Behavioral Health department.
In his new role, Seun has the challenging yet rewarding task of restoring, reestablishing and reinforcing processes to start an effective management of patients that allowed for continuous improvement in the way substance abuse is viewed and treated.
Seun has been working at Coney Island Hospital for almost 10 years. During this time, Seun has become an integral part of the Coney Island behavioral team. He worked collaboratively in developing tools that are rooted in evidence-based practices. These include examples such as the “fall huddle,” an interdisciplinary tool whose objective is to eliminate/reduce falls, and “Code Gray,” an interdisciplinary Crisis prevention and management response team. In addition, Mr. Ajibade is the lead trainer in PMCS, which is a training program in de-escalation and management, and also a master trainer in TeamSTEPPS.
As a Simulation fellow at The Simulation Center, Seun was the lead developer in behavioral health de-escalation and debriefing stimulation courses. Seun also is one of the liaisons between CIH and NYC Health + Hospitals Simulation Center. Seun is passionate about both teaching and the arts, such as photography, videography, and filmography. He directed and produced two short films while he was a student at St. Vincent’s school of nursing.
